Comparing Healthcare Systems around the World

With healthcare in the U.S. being the hot topic that it is right now, it’s tempting to look at what other countries are doing and what is working for them.

Different countries have different healthcare needs which can make it tricky to compare one to another. This clever piece by The New York Times takes a unique tournament style approach in an attempt to tackle the difficult task of comparing the state of healthcare in different parts of the world. The tournament is set up as an interactive bracket system for a selection of countries (Canada, Britain, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland, France, Australia, and the United States) so that you can play along on the way to discovering the “winner” according to the expert judges chosen by The Times. Spoiler alert: The U.S. didn’t come out on top in this game per The Times’ experts.

Most countries concerns are patient care. The U.S seems to put profit over patient care. Yes, we have more advanced technology than other countries but if you are mid to low income having access to the better care through the advanced technology is become almost impossible due to the cost of rising health plan cost.
