MCN's Consultants

MCN's physicians and other consultants are recruited and credentialed specifically for the provision of medical judgment services. Our consultants have been selected for their willingness to understand the unique role that the independent reviewer/examiner must fill. Our consultants provide an objective and outside review of medical claims; by assessing records, claimant history and examination factors to reach their conclusions and create a written report for our clients, to help them make claims decisions.

MCN understands that mastering this shift in roles is a skill that requires special training for many clinicians more accustomed to the treatment role—training which for MCN begins with the careful selection and orientation of consultants. We also recognize the importance of reputation and credibility, and carefully credential consultants through external primary-source verification of licensure, Board Certification and regulatory compliance. Each MCN consultant is recruited directly by the company. We do not lease or re-label existing treatment networks for evaluation services.

In performing examinations and peer reviews, our consultants consider information that may include medical records; other related claim records; claimant questionnaires; laboratory and imaging data; histories from claimants; and the physical or mental status examination. Our services encompass but are not limited to Independent Medical Examinations, Peer reviews, and Medical Bill reviews. Our clients include those managing workers' compensation, casualty, disability, and group health claims.

MCN works with 16,000 affiliated physicians across the country and maintains offices in nine states, allowing clients and claimants to access our services anywhere in the US and Canada. MCN was the first company in its field to create a national platform through our national division, opened in 1997.

To support our nationwide presence, MCN has a comprehensive knowledge of health industry regulations in all jurisdictions as well as a solid grounding in changing federal and state regulations affecting health care insurance coverage and review. MCN's clients include regional municipalities and national agencies as well as self-insured entities, workers' compensation managers, auto and disability carriers, as well as individual and group health providers.

Medical Records Technology

MCN's nationwide network of physicians is supported through our pioneering work in medical records technology. MCN programs seamlessly interact with existing benefits administration programs, resulting in timely reports that clients can use in their claims determination.

The company was the first in its industry to offer online ordering and data management. We continue to lead and innovate. MCN has been paperless since 2000, storing all documents in a secure network. Our Client Portal allows us to interface with clients on-line, telephonically, via fax, and by mail. Through this secured web environment, clients may access the current status of their referrals and have the ability to upload records and download completed reports and related case correspondence. All information is archived for on-going access.

Storage of data fully encrypted in a manner compliant with all applicable federal and state laws
Automated e-mail communications structured according to client protocols
The ability for clients to upload records, review the status of a claim and its complete history, and update client profiles
